Today I visited the Vancouver Aquarium situated in Stanley Park. The Aquarium is home to a host of amazing sealife, as well as some crocodiles and a sloth! The sealife included favourites such as jellyfish, eels and a mulitude of fish. However, there were also animals that can be found on the beautiful Canadian coastlines such as sea otters, steller sea lions, Pacific white sided dolphins and Beluga whales.
Today I was introduced to the fishing town of Steveston, & ate some rather fresh & tasty fish for dinner. It was dusk when arriving at this part of southern Vancouver, so I had a chance to grab a few shots of the boats in the fading light. The rest of the evenings photos revolved around food, so I put this collecting together.
I was really looking forward to the trip to Whistler & was not disappointed. The landscape, views & atmosphere were all amazing. I even managed to get myself to the peak of Whistler mountain & rode the peak to peak gondola, the worlds longest unsupported lift spanning 1.88miles & 6,000ft above Whistler - not bad for someone who is not a fan of heights!
Taken at a veiw point off route 99 on the way from Vancouver to Whistler.
Olympic rings at Whistler village.
Had a great day sight seeing, which including a trip up Cypress mountain with fantastic views of downtown Vancouver & English Bay, a visit to Ligthhouse Park were I was constantly looking for the local bears! And to top off the day a walk along to Sunset Beach.
Day 3 I saw my first CFL game at Empire field, where BC Lions hosted Toronto Argonauts. I'm a big fan of 'American' football & with the NFL season starting this week there is a bit of football fever in this part of the world at the moment.
I took my compact camera to the game and got some great snaps, this one below was taken just before full time, & shows off the position of Empire field with the beautiful mountains in the background.
I don't like heights - I really really don't like heights!!! But today I went upto the observation deck in downtown Vancouver. Luckily I had just had a couple of glasses of my favorite bourbon whisky!
The views from the deck are spectacular; the city, the sea and the mountains all seen very clearly, especailly on a warm, bright, clear day.
Hello & welcome to the blog! Feel free to have a nose around & leave a comment or two, I hope you enjoy what you see! Dan
